What is God calling you to?

How does God reveal his will to you?

A retreat for young men 16-18 yo.

St Mary’s seminary 5pm Friday 2nd – 2pm Sunday 4thÂ

“Come away all by yourselves and rest a while” (Mk 6:31)

God does have a plan for you. Our vocation is the place where we will be happiest and most fully alive. God’s love reaches the deepest recesses of our soul and nurtures our true self and helps us grow. In relationship with Him he inspires our natural abilities to be used in fulfilling ways. In the stillness of silence, His Word calls forth our true response to life. It is natural, but also supernatural. We know ourselves reasonably well, but we don’t know our full potential. God knows our potential and invites us to live beyond our limits where our gifts, creativity and personality will most flourish and contribute to a better world.

The spiritual tradition of the Catholic Church has produced great saints who have been transformed by God’s unconditional love. We have recently celebrated St. Mary of the Cross who lived a life with God. Saint Ignatius is recognised as a spiritual master of discernment. His spiritual exercises have inspired and helped thousands to come closer to Christ and discern His call in their life. We will follow a basic Ignatian format for this retreat and use his guidelines for spiritual discernment.

In the busyness of the year we can lose touch with God. Our souls can be worn out and tired. Silence is a special place where God’s gentle presence nurtures our soul and allows us to re-centre ourselves and to listen, reflect and meditate. The wisdom from St. Ignatius will help us discern the movements within us and help us to know how to respond to them. Fr Andrew is available for spiritual direction and for the sacrament of reconciliation. Mr Robert Zaar is also available for spiritual direction. The aim is for you to develop your own skills to help you live a more full life, a life in the Spirit, a life of hope happiness and joy.

Format: Day time will be talks, meditation and spiritual direction. At dinner there will be time for discussions and free time.

Directors: The retreat will be run by Fr. Andrew Chen OMI and Robert Zaar.
