Mission Action Youth Organization (MAYO) is a youth organization inspired by St Eugene De Mazenod. We seek to "leave nothing undared for the Kingdom of God" (St Eugene De Mazenod) in a variety of ways. This website is the hub of our communications and facilitates our cooperative efforts.
We not only run regular retreats, but also project days to develop new initiatives for the Gospel. These project days are called Sprints since the projects are 'sprinted' along during the day. This term comes from the Open Source community, a community where content is freely shared. We use the most free license called CC0 or public domain. You are free to use our resources any way you like. So rather than being a consumer of the culture of death we want to be producers of a culture of life. We want to use our hobbies for God.
At the heart of MAYO is a spiritual formation program (that is in the process of being added to an online site). The aim is to encounter Christ, be well formed in Christ and do whatever Christ calls you to. Growth in prayer and discernment are essential habits to discover God's call. We have had 15 members complete the core formation program in the past. Currently 5 of these members are now in the seminary.
MAYO is primarily focused on high school students. Junior members must be over 13 years old and in year 7 to 12. To meet the requirements of duty of care parents are required to register on the site first. There is also a parent's group on the site for their benefit and communication. Once a parent has registered, their children can then register. Junior accounts will not be activated until parent accounts have been validated. We also have senior members with their own group.
MAYO is in the process of incorporating as an association in the State of Victoria. Once we have enough senior and parent committee members, we will incorporate.
You are welcome to register.
